Our Board

Anna Christophorou

Anna has been working in the field of Mental Health and addiction for 20 years, both in the UK and New Zealand. From needle exchange to start up services, prison and residential programmes, Anna’s passion is connection, supporting people to see their potential and experience new opportunities.

A founding member of the Speed Freaks group, her drive has taken the ‘running for recovery‘ mantra forward into its own Charitable Trust.

Outside of work, hills and mountains are favourites, as is hanging out with her young adult kids and taste-testing local cafes.

Tony Fallon

Tony is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin and qualified Radiation Therapist. He has worked for a number of years in the health sector, as both practitioner and manager, in both Ireland and New Zealand.

At Canterbury District Health Board, Tony worked across the planning & funding team before joining Nova Trust, a leading alcohol and drug rehab service provider, as a member of the Leadership Team in 2017.

A self-confessed data geek and passionate advocate for harm reduction and sensible drug policy, Tony is the current Chair of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation and holds governance roles in the New Zealand Needle Exchange Programme.

In his spare time, he can be found trail running in the Port Hills or on a road bike in Banks Peninsula

Leo Coles – Consumer Adviser

I bring my own lived experience to the Board, a Speed freak from 5 k to 100 miler.

Before beginning a residential programme my life was full of addiction and crime. I have now found a new path in life, thanks to Odyssey House and the wonderful team there. I have been part of the speed freaks for 18 months now and really enjoy finding ‘the pain cave’ from time to time.  Keen  to see others in recovery benefit from The speed freaks and the connections we all make.

Raelene Rees

Chartered Accountant and part-time runner, more enthusiasm than ability!

Sitting at a desk all day means that it’s a necessity to extend myself on the w/end, out there in all weathers doing stuff with others – running, biking, multisport, I’ll give most things a go….  In my day job I’m helping clients with their IRD responsibilities, and caring for their business so that they can do what they do best, and leave all the numbers stuff to me.

Our main office is at Riccarton, and we have a small office in Rangiora,  I am also the South Island Regional Manager for Venus Women’s Business Group.

I don’t have a lot of down time lol, but when I do it would involve a book and a seat outside.
